Sunberry Baking Company’s mission is to make high-quality, 100% vegan baked goods and other treats in a socially responsible manner, and to provide education about and support for veganism in our community.

Sunberry Baking Company was born out of our desire to offer vegan treats that anyone can enjoy that are also made with compassion for all creatures and the planet…without skimping on flavor and quality. We hope that our products will also serve as opportunities for people to experience veganism and to learn more about the ethics behind a vegan lifestyle. To further this mission, we also offer classes, organize a vegan meetup group, and put on community events.

We are always looking for more chances to share our vegan treats! Let us know if there is an item you are craving that is not on our menu — we love a challenge and will happily try our best to veganize your favorite baked good. Sunberry Baking Company also offers some products made without gluten and other allergens.

We are on hiatus at the moment, and will not be taking special orders until further notice. Keep an eye out for new recipes on our website and more information about vegan events in the Shenandoah Valley!

We are going to be vacationing at McGaheysville Thanksgiving week and have several gluten free members. Are you open and what is your address?

Hello, and thanks for contacting us about your visit and Sunberry Baking Company. Sorry if it was not clear from the descriptions on the site, but we are not actually a retail bakery location. We are home-based and will be selling items at the local farmers market, some other local businesses, and via special order.

We would be happy to talk more with you about doing a special order for when you arrive, if you are interested. All of our items are vegan, and we have a good selection of gluten-free items we can make as well, as you can see on our product listing. (Please note that our kitchen is not dedicated gluten-free.) Some of our favorite gluten-free items are pumpkin cranberry muffins/bread loaves, lavender shortbread, fruit bars, and a variety of cookies. If you have other things in mind, we would be willing to give them a shot–a pie, for example.

Please let me know what you are interested in, and we can get back to you with prices, etc.

And if you would prefer to purchase from a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, a good local source is Fine Flours Bakery: http://www.finefloursbakery.com/.

Thank you for your tour of the co-op. It was very informative. I’m going to be trying some of the recipes from your handout. Your learn to shop vegan has also introduced me to several new websites. Good luck with your bakery items I will be watching for them.

Thank you for your kind comments, Ellenrose! We hope you enjoy the recipes–and our Sunberry Baking items, when you try them. Do get in touch if you have any questions about anything vegan. Also, watch out for future classes on all things vegan by us at the Co-op.

Just had some of the most delicious vegan brownies from Sunberry. Glad I got mine when I did because the office staff didnt let them last long. Just so delicious! Thanks so much Justin and Rosemary. Dr. Gabe Thomas ~Rockingham Chiropractic~

Thanks, Morgan! Glad you enjoyed them. We are no longer making new wholesale deliveries, but we are still baking for special orders and for our Community Supported Baking (CSB) program. Let us know if you would ever like an order, or if you see any products you would like the recipes for we would be happy to share.
